Rianne Noordegraaf (1973, Hoorn) Brightness and darkness balance each other out. The images seem to capture primordial impressions about nature, that feel both real and subjective. Every object seems to come to life. Rianne does not capture the appearance, but the essence or the spirit of the subject, not the reality, but the atmosphere and the beauty. Her work is emotional, sensual, expressive and highly intuitive, people tend to feel her work, they want to touch it. Everything has to be right, down to the last detail. This is Rianne Noordegraaf’s perfectionism, which can sometimes get in her way, but in the end it brought her a lot. It is not just about the art work she makes, but also about the people she works with. For example, the frame maker, his handiwork results in unique frames. With a black and white print, he is looking for a slightly browner color tone, so that the print has a warmer appearance in the frame. Or the man who prints, he finds the most suitable fine art paper on which the image shows best. They are all professional craftsmen, that’s what makes Rianne’s heart beat faster, that gives her energy. Her work consists of unexpectedly beautiful moments that she encounters, homemade fantasy worlds and meaningful portraits in which she captures the true personalities. She prefers to use used objects, waste and objects from nature. After taking the photo, the ‘painting’ work begins, that’s how she experiences it. Rianne edits the photos in detail, then occasionally takes a step back and continues. Until she gets the warm feeling and a big smile on her face and knows that it’s okay to stop. Because in the end it is never finished.

I am a passionate woman who, after many wanderings, feels like one of the chosen ones who has found what she is good at, what makes her happy and what she is willing to give everything for. I prefer to lock myself in with the gems that I have found along the way, that have caught my attention and study them in detail to be able to capture them at their most powerful. The way of shooting, so close, so intimate, sometimes fools your mind. That’s what I like so much, when you look at the final work you don’t immediately see what it is and can use your own imagination.” (Rianne)

Rianne Noordegraaf (1973, Hoorn).

(Rianne)
