Carel Blazer (1911-1980) started to photograph in the thirties and followed a training course with Hans Finsler in Switzerland. He was co-organizer of the exhibition FOTO ’37  in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Together with colleagues Ad Windig and Annelies Roman, he dedicated himself to the work of false identity cards during the war. In 1945 he was one of the founders of the GKf and after that he was part of the board for decades. From the late forties, he started a partnership with Ad Windig for a short time. Before the war, he specialized in portrait, children, technical and advertising photography, but in practice this amounted to documentary series and reports commissioned by companies and publishers. In the post-war period he worked a lot with well-known graphic designers. Blazer was a source of information for many practical problems of his colleagues. He was fascinated by the struggle of the land with the water and he often documented it with his camera.
