Peter Gerritsen finished his education at the Royal Academy, The Hague in 1993. Worked as spatial designer and installation artist. Started a cooperation for unposed photography ‘ECHIE’ in 2013 with three other photographers (Peter de Krom, Regina van der Kloet, Caspar Claassen). Group exhibition at Qlick Editions (Amsterdam, 2013), Museum Waterland (2015).

Peter Gerritsen is travelling a lot. In general he stays in big cities for an extended period of time and photographs in the (semi) public domain. He offers us the result with as little information as possible about the location. Although made in a documentary way of working, he doesn’t want to document a story, rather wants to make a poetic suggestion. His research focuses on people and space, desire and fear, presence and the unspeakable. But also on the possibility to combine the independent images.

His sequences include a number of images as words in a line of poetry. Or, better, lines who build a poem. Lines have their own meaning, but read one after another, could reveal a wider perspective.
